Wycliffe speaks out against John Mbadi over alleged years of unpaid service

Date:

Treasury CS John Mbadi is facing criticism after a man identified as Wycliffe publicly accused him of using him for 20 years without pay or empowerment.

Wycliffe, who says he served as Mbadi’s communication officer during that period, shared his frustrations on social media, claiming that despite years of loyalty and support, he never received proper employment, salary, or opportunities to improve his life.

In his remarks, Wycliffe also criticized Energy Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi, saying he was embarrassing the Broad-Based Government.

However, even while appearing to prefer Mbadi over Wandayi, he made it clear that he was not a supporter of Mbadi either.

He claimed that Mbadi was mainly focused on building popularity and positioning himself as the next political kingpin in Luo Nyanza after Raila Odinga. Wycliffe even called on people to reject Mbadi’s political ambitions completely.

The claims have sparked debate online, with many Kenyans discussing the treatment of loyal supporters by powerful politicians.

Wycliffe’s statements painted a picture of frustration and disappointment after spending two decades working closely with a senior politician without any clear personal benefit.

According to him, his loyalty did not translate into financial support, stable employment, or empowerment opportunities.

John Mbadi has been a major figure in Kenyan politics for many years. He served as the Member of Parliament for Suba South, later became the Leader of Minority in the National Assembly, and currently serves as the Treasury Cabinet Secretary.

Throughout his political career, he has often spoken about accountability, development, and public service.

That is why Wycliffe’s accusations have attracted attention, especially among people questioning whether leaders practice the same values they preach in public.

Many Kenyans online have connected the issue to a wider problem in politics where supporters and close aides dedicate years to politicians hoping for growth and opportunities, only to feel abandoned later. Wycliffe’s story has become part of that conversation, with some people sympathizing with him while others argue that such arrangements are common in political circles.

The accusations remain one-sided for now, as Mbadi has not publicly responded to the claims made by Wycliffe.
