USIU Student Jumps From Kasarani Apartment, Confirmed Dead

Date:

A student died after jumping from the 14th story of an apartment in Nairobi’s Kasarani neighborhood.

Police are investigating the suicide of a male Tanzanian student at the United States International University (USIU).

He was a second-year student when the event occurred, according to police and coworkers.

The victim wrote a suicide note addressed to his parents.

Details of the suicide letter were not immediately made public.

Other residents discovered the student’s body at an apartment near the college on Wednesday morning, just seconds after the tragedy.

Nairobi police chief Adamson Bungei confirmed that the event is being investigated. The incident occurred while the student was living alone in his apartment room.

Police responded to the location and transported the deceased to the mortuary for an autopsy and other investigations.

In Kirengero, Subukia, Nakuru County, a woman’s body was discovered hanging on rafters following a suspected suicide.

Police stated the crime occurred in Jumatatu Village and involved Damaris Njeri, 35. She had been absent for hours, causing her husband to search for her.

He stumbled upon the woman’s body, which was hanging from the house’s rafters with no physical injuries.

The motivation for the incident is unknown, police added as they carried the body to the mortuary.

Suicides are on the rise, prompting efforts to address the issue.

The administration claims to have put in place systems to combat the threat.

According to police, the pattern is worrying and increasing, with up to two incidents reported every day.

According to the World Health Organization, such occurrences are caused by unemployment, mortality, scholastic failure or pressures, as well as legal and financial challenges.

Other reasons include bullying, previous suicide attempts, family history of suicide, alcoholism and substance abuse, despair, and bipolar disease.
