ODM’s Sifuna hints at powerful role if Ruto is voted out in 2027

Date:

The mood at a Senate Public Accounts Committee session shifted when Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna chose to make a bold political statement that caught the attention of those in attendance.

Rather than limiting himself to oversight issues, Sifuna declared that he does not intend to stay in the opposition for long, a remark that drew laughter and applause from fellow senators and members of the public present.

He went further to say that in two years, should Kenyans decide to vote President William Ruto out of office, he would hold a powerful position in government.

As Secretary General of the Orange Democratic Movement, Sifuna used the opportunity to express his confidence that the opposition is not permanently locked outside power.

He reminded the audience that politics is dynamic and the next election could bring major change. His assurance that the opposition could soon be in leadership gave the session a lively tone and sparked optimism among his supporters.

The comments also reflected his belief that ODM and its partners remain central to any discussion on Kenya’s political future. For observers, the senator’s words are part of a wider trend in which opposition leaders are showing greater confidence that they can challenge the current administration effectively.

Sifuna has been among the strongest critics of the government, often questioning its performance on governance and accountability.

His latest remarks fit into his role as both a party leader and a vocal senator determined to keep political debate alive.

The statement comes at a time when political realignments are becoming more pronounced across the country. With the 2027 elections drawing closer, both Kenya Kwanza and the opposition are making strategic moves to build stronger bases.

Analysts point out that Sifuna’s declaration is not only about personal ambition but also about sending a message that ODM intends to remain a key player in shaping Kenya’s leadership.
