A director of Skyline Works Ltd has been arrested in connection with a land fraud case involving alleged forged documents and a disputed property in Nairobi.
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations’ Land Fraud Investigations Unit picked up Abdul Hassan Tahalil after linking him to attempts to take over a parcel of land valued at about Sh25 million.
Authorities say the suspect is a director at the company and is believed to have played a key role in preparing documents used to claim ownership of the land.
The case began after a complaint was filed by a woman who says she legally bought the property in Eastleigh’s Section One, 4th Street, in 1966 for Sh56,000.
According to her statement, she has held ownership for decades but recently started facing persistent efforts by individuals trying to claim the land.
Following the report, detectives launched investigations to establish the validity of the claims and documents presented.
During the probe, officers say they found evidence suggesting that some of the documents used to support the takeover attempt were not genuine.
Investigators linked the documents to Skyline Works Ltd and its directors.
The findings were compiled and forwarded to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for review. After examining the case file, the prosecution agreed with investigators that there was sufficient basis to charge Tahalil with the offence of making false documents.
He was arrested and is currently undergoing processing as he awaits to be presented in court.
Police say investigations into the matter are still ongoing and have not ruled out the possibility of more suspects being involved.
