KPA Boss William Ruto hospitalised after Taita Taveta crash that killed his daughter

Kenya Ports Authority Managing Director William Ruto has been admitted to hospital after he and his family were involved in a road accident in Taita Taveta on Friday, April 3.

The authority confirmed the incident and said it resulted in the death of his daughter.In a statement released on Saturday, April 4, Kenya Ports Authority expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy. The agency said Ruto is in stable condition and is receiving close medical care.

It also conveyed condolences to him and his family during what it described as a difficult time.

KPA noted that investigations are ongoing, with police working to establish what caused the accident. The authority added that it remains hopeful for a full recovery for those who survived.

The incident comes amid a series of road accidents reported across the country as many Kenyans travel for the Easter holiday.

Along the Nairobi-Nakuru highway near Kariandusi, the death toll from a separate crash has risen to 11 after another victim died while being taken to hospital.

According to Winston Mwakio, the accident involved a 14-seater matatu that rammed into a stalled trailer in the early hours of Saturday.

The trailer had developed mechanical problems and was stationary on the road when the matatu lost control and crashed into it.

In another incident reported by the Kenya Red Cross Society, a crash occurred at the Tunnel area in Fort Tenan, Kericho County.

It involved two buses and two lorries carrying 66 passengers. Twenty people were injured, with five sustaining serious injuries and receiving further treatment.
