A fresh round of appointments and reappointments has been made across several government ministries after Cabinet Secretaries named new leaders and board members to serve in various state agencies and public institutions.
The changes were published through the Kenya Gazette and took effect on July 24, with most of those appointed expected to serve for three-year terms.
Among the notable appointments, Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen named Adan Haji Ali as the new non-executive chairperson of the Public Benefit Organisations Regulatory Authority.
Ali previously served in the same position at the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority before President William Ruto appointed former Bumula Member of Parliament Moses Wekesa Mwambu Mabonga to lead EPRA. Murkomen also appointed Sophie Chepkorir Sang to the board of the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse.
At the National Treasury, Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi renewed the appointment of George Murugu Muthui as chairperson of the Public Procurement Administrative Review Board.
He also reappointed board members Alexander Musau, Langat Daniel, Alice Nyaeri, Lilian Ogombo and Joshua Kiptoo. Mbadi further renewed Johnson Osoi’s term as the non-executive chairperson of the Local Authorities Provident Fund Board and retained Jeremiah Kendagor, Jane Nyokabi and Joseph Tarus as directors of the Retirement Benefits Authority.
Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale also renewed the appointments of Hesbon Omollo, Jane Masiga and Bernard Bett to the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority board.
Trade Cabinet Secretary Lee Kinyanjui reappointed Grace A. Otieno, Leah Chelangat, Zedekiah Migiro Orioki and Dickson M. Waiganjo to continue serving on the Kenya National Accreditation Service Board.
In the education sector, Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba retained several council members at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology and the University of Embu.
He also appointed new council members for South Eastern Kenya University, Laikipia University and Nairobi National Polytechnic.
Patrick Nyangweso Aywago, the Chief Executive Officer of the National Taxpayers Association, was appointed as the non-executive chairperson of the Mawego National Polytechnic Council.Energy Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi reappointed Rosemary Nyambura Njaramba, Philip Kibiwot Cherige and Hussein Abdinassir Mohamed to the Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation board.
Lands Cabinet Secretary Alice Wahome appointed Gregory Muli Masika as Registrar of the Valuers Registration Board, while Co-operatives Cabinet Secretary Wycliffe Oparanya renewed Samuel Stephen Owuor Ogola’s appointment to the Uwezo Fund Oversight Board.Water Cabinet Secretary Eric Murithi Mugaa appointed Njage Makanga as the non-executive chairperson of the Central Rift Valley Water Works Development Agency.
He also made appointments to the Lake Victoria North Water Works Development Agency Board, the Water Sector Trust Fund Board of Trustees and the Water Services Regulatory Board.Other appointments included Abdikarim Mohamed Ali to the Kenya Forestry Research Institute Board, Rose Sang to the Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organisation Board, Davies Kibet and Beatrice Obingo to the Lake Basin Development Authority Board, David Musila as non-executive chairperson of the National Industrial Training Board, Daniel Lejaroi Letoiye to the Wildlife Research and Training Institute Board, and Alexandriah Muhanji together with Bhoke Christine Nchama and Eric Langat to the Communications Authority of Kenya board.
These changes are expected to strengthen leadership across government institutions as the new and returning officials begin their latest terms.
