Family of missing trader Zizo demands justice six days after mysterious Juja disappearance

Date:

The disappearance of Abdul Aziz Duba Molu, popularly known as Zizo, has left his family searching for answers as concern grows over his whereabouts six days after he allegedly went missing.

His relatives claim he was abducted by men who identified themselves as police officers while he was in Juja, Kiambu County, and say they have not received any information about where he is or why he was taken.

The incident has also sparked protests in Kiamaiko, Huruma Estate, where Zizo is well known. Family members, friends, and residents have been calling on the government to either release him or formally charge him in court if he is suspected of committing any offence.

According to the family, Zizo left home last Tuesday to supervise the fencing of a newly acquired piece of land in Juja.

However, he never made it back home. His colleagues later returned without him, describing a frightening encounter that they say unfolded before their eyes.

His brother, Ramadhan Ndumba Mulu, said Zizo, who earns a living selling meat in Kiamaiko, was taken after two vehicles intercepted them.

“I sell meat here in Kiamaiko. They were intercepted by two vehicles. The men were armed with AK-47 rifles. They asked, ‘Who is Badi?’ and then they took him away,” said Ndumba.

Since then, the family says it has visited various offices and sought help from different authorities, but no one has provided information on where Zizo is being held or whether he is in official custody.

“Today is the sixth day. He has not been taken to court, and we don’t know where he is. The government should tell us where he is,” added Ndumba.

The family insists that the men who took him identified themselves as police officers.

They are now urging the government to either release him immediately or present him before a court if he is being investigated over any alleged offence.

Residents have also joined the calls for answers, saying the uncertainty surrounding his disappearance has caused fear and anxiety within the community.

“He is a father. Government, stop abductions. Tell us where he is,” said Mohamed Isman, a resident of Kiamaiko.

Zizo’s disappearance has become the centre of demonstrations in the area, with recent protests turning violent after clashes between police and demonstrators.

One person lost their life during the unrest, further raising tensions.

Despite the violence, some residents say they are prepared to continue demonstrating until they receive answers about Zizo’s whereabouts.

“We are giving the government 24 hours. If they do not release him, we will return to the streets and continue demonstrating until he is found. We are ready to die for him if that is what it takes,” said Kiamaiko resident Rashid Juma.
