Gloria Orwoba claims plot to harm her, points finger at Murang’a MP Betty Maina

Date:

Former nominated senator Gloria Orwoba has accused Murang’a Woman Representative Betty Maina of a grave personal attack.

In a Facebook post she claimed that goons were sent to harm her. The post has spread fast across political circles and social media.

Orwoba said the plan targeted her while she was in Nyeri. She alleged that rogue police tracked her movements through the day and night.

She said the attack failed and anger followed when it did not happen.

She linked the claim to her refusal to join what she called a sex cult. Orwoba said she chose dignity and principles over pressure.

She addressed Maina directly and said every leader lives with their choices. She noted that the message was shared on her father’s birthday. She said she had tried to stay silent.

She added a warning in Swahili suggesting she could respond harshly if pushed.

No independent report has confirmed the claims so far. There are no public records of arrests or official complaints tied to the alleged incident. Major media outlets have not verified police involvement.

Orwoba is known for outspoken views on women’s rights and period dignity. Her political journey has been turbulent since her exit from UDA.

She lost her seat after expulsion over misconduct claims and defiance.

Maina serves as Murang’a Woman Representative under UDA. She has been active in national debates and party affairs.

By the time of publication she had not issued a public response.

The accusations land amid intense rivalries within the ruling coalition. Social media has become a battlefield for personal disputes.

The claims raise concerns about safety in politics and accountability.

The dispute has reopened debate about power and silence in public office. Supporters and critics reacted sharply online. Some called for investigations while others urged restraint.

The online storm grew as screenshots and commentary circulated widely.Legal experts note that such claims carry serious implications.

Due process requires formal complaints and evidence. False accusations can damage reputations. At the same time genuine victims need protection and swift action from institutions.
