UDA rebels on the edge as President Ruto plans major party shakeup

Reports have surfaced from various reputable sources indicating that the country’s top in command Hon President William Ruto is seeking to dust rebel Members of Parliament (MPs) who backed rival candidates in the recently concluded polls.

As a way of stamping authority as the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party leader, it has now been established that President Ruto is seeking to take stern action against all the rebel MPs, by stripping them of from their roles in plum Parliamentary committees or complete removal from the party.

Among those targeted for disciplinary action by Ruto include: Senator for Kakamega county Hon Boni Khalwale, who spearheaded campaigns for Independent candidate Seth Panyako against UDA’s David Ndakwa.

Secondly, Member of Parliament for Kitutu Masaba constituency Hon Clive Gesairo is also targeted for removal from National Assembly Education committee, while his counterpart for Kitutu Chache South, MP Antony Kibagendi, is also set to face Ruto’s chopping board by being demoted from his position of Deputy chairperson of Public Investment Committee on Governance and Education.

Other MPs like Mohamed Ali of Nyali constituency who spearheaded campaigns for DCP party in Magarini have so far been requested by UDA party Secretary General SG Hassan Omar to resign from the party and join the parties they supported during the mini polls, while some in Parliamentary committees have been threatened to be moved to lesser positions for supporting rivals.
