In Mutuini Estate, Dagoretti South, a family is facing sleepless nights after their 13-year-old daughter, Rahab Njoki Njuguna, went missing several days ago.
The young girl, who is a pupil at Kirigu Primary School, was last seen at the Waterfront Mall in Karen after telling her family she was going to meet friends.
Since then, no one has heard from her, and her family’s desperate search has turned into a painful wait for answers.
CCTV footage from the Waterfront Mall shows Rahab arriving calmly with another girl and a young man.
The cameras later captured her talking to the young man, and a few moments later, more boys joined them.
Their faces were unfamiliar, and they seemed to know each other casually. Not long after, Rahab was seen walking out of the mall with the same young man.
That was the last moment she was seen alive, and her family has been searching for her ever since.
Her mother, Njeri Ndung’u, is heartbroken and continues to appeal to anyone who might have information about her daughter’s whereabouts.
She says her biggest wish is for Rahab to return home safely and continue with school.
“Hao vijana walichukua huyo mtoto wamrudishe tu, sababu huyo mtoto anastahili kuwa shule… naumia sana kama mzazi, nimemtafuta lakini sijasaidika,” she said tearfully, expressing the pain every parent fears.
According to one of Rahab’s friends who was with her that day, the young man she was last seen with appeared uneasy and even threatened her before walking away with Rahab.
That was the last time she saw her friend. The family reported the matter at the Karen Police Station, but they say progress has been slow and the trail has grown cold.
An unknown man called them, claiming to be a senior police officer known as “OCPD Kilgoris.” He told them he had rescued Rahab and promised to reunite her with her family if they sent him money to facilitate her release.
Desperate and hopeful, the family complied, but it later turned out to be a scam. Investigations have revealed that this same man has been targeting other families across the country, exploiting their pain to extort money under the guise of helping them find their missing loved ones.
“Alitupigia simu akasema yeye ni OCPD Kilgoris, tutume pesa msichana aletwe Kabete Police Station lakini ilikuwa uwongo,” Rahab’s mother said bitterly.
For now, the family continues to cling to hope that Rahab will be found. They join other families of missing persons who are appealing to authorities to take urgent action and dismantle the criminal networks preying on their suffering.
Their greatest wish is simple to see their children return home safely and to finally have peace after days of fear, confusion, and heartbreak.
