Kenyans on Facebook have been expressing deep concern over the condition of Cleopatra Wanjiku, a well-known HIV positive warrior and businesswoman.
This comes after she revealed that she had been hospitalized due to food poisoning. Cleopatra shared the news through a post on her Facebook page, explaining that the incident happened shortly after she attended the recent empowerment programme held at State House on Saturday.
The event, led by President William Ruto, saw various youths receive equipment meant to support them in starting income-generating activities. In her post, Cleopatra shared two contrasting photos that highlighted the sudden change in her situation.

The first photo showed her seated among other young people at State House, smiling and appearing in good health.
The second photo, however, showed her lying on a hospital bed with an IV syringe attached to her right hand, clearly in a much different state.
She wrote about the shocking turn of events, saying that one moment she was relaxed at State House, and the next she was fighting for her life. She expressed disbelief at how dangerous food poisoning could be, admitting that the experience made her realize how close death can come.

“One minute you’re chilling in State House, the next minute you’re fighting for your life. Kumbe food poisoning can kill someone instantly? Leo nimeona vile kifo hukuwa karibu aisee,” she said in her post.
Her words reflected the fear and pain she endured during the ordeal.
Cleopatra went on to respond to a comment from one Facebook user, Wanjiku Njoroge, who agreed with her, saying that food poisoning can be deadly. Wanjiku wrote, “Food poisoning inaweza kupeleka sayuni very fast,” to which Cleopatra replied, “Sijawai feel the pain I felt.”
This showed just how severe her situation had been..The news has sparked a wave of support and well-wishes from Kenyans online, many of whom admire her courage in openly sharing her health journey.
As someone who has been vocal about living positively with HIV, Cleopatra’s openness has inspired many, and her current condition has left her followers hoping for a quick recovery.
Her experience also serves as a reminder of how unpredictable life can be and how quickly health can take a turn for the worse.
For now, Kenyans on social media continue to send her messages of encouragement and prayers as she recovers in hospital.
