Koimburi speaks from hospital bed as police doubt his abduction claims

Date:

Juja MP George Koimburi has broken his silence, revealing the chilling details surrounding his alleged abduction, which has caused heated debate in political circles across the country. His disappearance on May 25 raised many questions, with some people claiming he may have faked it for political attention.

But speaking from his hospital bed, Koimburi denied those claims and shared the painful experience he went through. According to Koimburi, the incident took place shortly after attending a church service at Full Gospel Churches of Kenya.

As he was leaving, unknown people attacked him, blindfolded him, and forced him into captivity. “It was May 25. I had just attended a church service and was on my way out when I encountered goons who covered my eyes and drugged me through my nose,” Koimburi said from his hospital bed. He added that after being drugged, he lost consciousness and couldn’t recall much of what happened afterward.

When he eventually woke up the next day, he found himself lying helplessly in a coffee farm. A kind boda boda rider spotted him, called his family, and helped him get to the hospital. “When I regained consciousness the next day, I found myself in a coffee farm where I got a good Samaritan, a boda boda rider who informed my family, who came to rescue me and brought me to this hospital,” he said.

Koimburi strongly condemned the incident and used the opportunity to speak about the rising cases of abductions and forced disappearances in Kenya. He said that what happened to him should be a wake-up call to both the public and the government.

“I’d like to urge Kenyans to continue praying for our country and our government. The government should also take this matter seriously; we should not let those responsible walk freely and continue with the abductions,” he said.

However, Koimburi’s story has not been accepted by everyone. Police Inspector General Douglas Kanja claimed the MP staged the abduction for political reasons. The police said they had interrogated three suspects linked to the case and found several gaps that suggested the abduction was not real.

They questioned why the MP, known to support former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, would choose such a method to stir up political tension in the country.

Despite the controversy, Koimburi’s story has reignited public concern over the state of security and rising cases of unexplained disappearances.

A number of Kenyans are now demanding a full investigation into what really happened to the Juja MP and whether there is a deeper problem affecting the safety of politicians and ordinary citizens alike.
