Nelson Amenya exposes secret currency printing deal allegedly tied to Raila and Ruto

Date:

Nelson Amenya, the man who earlier raised alarm over the leasing of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to the Adani group, has made new claims that could cause serious concern among Kenyans.

According to news sources analyzed by this Kenyadaily.online, Amenya now alleges that the Kenyan government has secretly changed the design of the national currency and shifted its printing to Germany.

He shared these claims on his X handle, saying the decision was made without informing the public or involving them in any way, which raises serious concerns about openness and responsibility in managing national affairs.

Amenya’s biggest concern is that this printing deal could have violated an existing contract with De La Rue, the company that has long been trusted with printing Kenya’s currency. He says there is a non-compete clause in the current contract, and by going behind De La Rue’s back, the government might have broken this agreement. If that is true, it could lead to huge financial penalties that would ultimately be paid by taxpayers.

Amenya compares this situation to the Arror and Kimwarer dam scandals, suggesting that this too could become another case of billions lost through mismanagement and poor decision-making.

But what makes these claims even more serious is the political angle. Amenya alleges that the currency printing contract was awarded to Raila Odinga following his handshake with President William Ruto. This twist suggests that there may be political deals happening behind the scenes, with government contracts being used as rewards for political support.

If this is accurate, it could signal a dangerous shift in how public resources are handled, turning important state decisions into private agreements between political elites. These allegations, especially coming from someone like Amenya who has already caused major public debate over the JKIA lease, are likely to draw attention from the public and media.

People will want to know whether the currency printing was moved to Germany legally and why the public was not informed. There will also be questions about the role of De La Rue and whether the company plans to take legal action. Most importantly, the claim that Raila Odinga received the deal because of his political cooperation with Ruto will likely stir fresh political debates, especially at a time when Kenyans are already dealing with tough economic conditions.
