Karura Forest came alive on May 10, 2025, with a cause that cut across industries and social barriers dignity for Kenya’s elderly. Mama Ibado Charity (MIC) hosted a stirring mock event for its Run for Seniors campaign, rallying a coalition of corporate giants and aviation leaders. The list of supporters read like a who’s who of industry: Jambojet, Safarilink, Centum Re, Amref, Bluebird Aviation, Dragonfly, Jubilee Insurance, Kasas Air, Hawk Aviation, Renegade Air, Futuresoft, Safezone Auto Parts, and 748 Air Services.
But they did not just show up—they stood for something bigger. MIC Director Amb. Amina Mohamed was clear in her message: “This is not just a run. It is a reminder that the elderly are part of our story. We cannot abandon them.” MIC President Ahmed Jibril called for even greater support. “Our seniors built this nation.
They deserve better than to be forgotten. Let this run be a statement—that we stand with them.”The event was not just about charity. It was a statement of values. At a time when society often ignores the elderly, MIC is building a network of care and compassion.
The mock run is just the beginning.The main Run for Seniors is set for July 11, 2025. Funds raised will go directly to MIC’s critical programs, providing food baskets and medical care to over 1,000 elderly beneficiaries in Isiolo and Kakamega Counties.748 Air Services Managing Director Moses Mwangi challenged other organizations to step up.
“This is about legacy. What will you be remembered for? Sign up. Run. Make an impact.”Corporate representatives spoke passionately. “Jambojet is proud to be here. Our seniors deserve dignity,” said Renee Wachuka, Brand Executive – Loyalty & Sustainability.
Gladys Wanjiru Mburu from Centum Re echoed the call for compassion. “This is not just an event. It is a statement. We must care for those who came before us.”
