Fresh details have emerged in the case of Murang’a University student Constance “Connie” Githinji, with new claims attempting to explain what may have led to her tragic death at a short-stay apartment in Kileleshwa, Nairobi.
According to accounts being reviewed by investigators, the 22-year-old student had travelled to Nairobi to meet a man she had been in contact with for some time.
The meeting, which was reportedly planned in advance, later ended in a tragic incident that has since attracted national attention.
The main suspect in the case has claimed that Connie showed signs of distress hours before her death.
He alleged that while they were together, she made concerning statements about her health and personal struggles.
However, these claims have not been confirmed by authorities and remain part of the suspect’s version of events.
The suspect further claimed that Connie became restless and agitated while they were at the apartment.
According to his account, she allegedly attempted to move toward a window at one point, prompting him to intervene.
He stated that there was a struggle as he tried to prevent her from harming herself, leading to a tense situation inside the room.
He also claimed that he contacted the apartment host, who then alerted a security guard to assist.
The guard reportedly arrived and tried to calm the situation.
Despite these efforts, the suspect alleged that Connie later moved to another room and again approached a window, where she eventually fell.
However, investigators have cautioned that these claims are still under investigation and have not been verified.
Authorities have emphasized that they are relying on forensic evidence, CCTV footage, and witness statements to establish the truth.
A postmortem examination has already raised serious questions about the earlier suicide claims.
The report showed that Connie had sustained multiple serious injuries, including broken limbs and internal trauma, before the fall.
