Wambui Nyutu leads in the Maragua parliamentary seat according to the latest Mwelekeo Insights survey

Date:

A recent survey conducted by Mwelekeo Insights has revealed the current preferences of the constituency’s voters, showing a clear frontrunner with a significant lead over the rest of the field.

The findings show that the contest is not close at the top. One candidate has emerged with a level of support that puts them in a commanding position, while the rest of the pack trails far behind.

The Clear Frontrunner with 54.9%

Wambui Nyutu of the Democracy for the Citizen’s Party (DCP)has established a dominant position in the race. She enjoys the support of a majority of the electorate, with 54.9% of respondents indicating they would vote for her.

This places her well ahead of her competitors with just under a year to go before the country goes to the polls.

The large margin suggests that a significant portion of the constituency views her as the preferred candidate to represent them in the National Assembly.

The results show a clear sentiment in the community, with more than half of the voters already leaning towards her.

The Battle for Second Place with 31.5%

The race for the second position is a more distant contest. Mary Wamaua incumbent MP under the UDA party has emerged as the main challenger, holding 31.5% of the vote share.

This places her as the second most preferred candidate, though she trails the leader by a considerable margin.

Behind her, Jimmy Mbaku features prominently in the survey with 11.5% of the vote. The remaining candidates in the field account for a very small portion of the respondents.

Cyrus Ngugi holds 0.9%, Laban Choma has 0.7%, and William Kamau Ngoru brings up the rear with 0.5% of the preferences.

Understanding the Survey

The survey was conducted to gauge the political mood in Maragua Constituency. It asked residents about their preferred candidate for the 2027 parliamentary election.
