Police in Nyeri County have launched investigations after the body of a 26-year-old woman was found dumped in a shallow well.

The woman, identified as Jane Wanjiru Mutahi, had gone missing after New Year’s Eve and was later discovered in the well in Mukurweini, Gikondi.
Wanjiru had last been seen walking home from a kesha, but after failing to return, her family reported her as missing.
The disappearance quickly raised alarm, with the family and community joining forces to search for her.
Social media posts were shared in an effort to locate the missing woman, and the family visited neighboring villages, police stations, and hospitals, desperate for any information that could help them find Wanjiru.
Unfortunately, their efforts came to a heartbreaking end when they were informed of her death.It was only on Thursday, January 16, that Wanjiru’s lifeless body was discovered floating in the shallow well by a resident who had gone there to fetch water.
The gruesome discovery shocked the community.
According to reports, the body had deep cuts, suggesting that Wanjiru had been brutally attacked before being dumped in the well.
Police were alerted to the situation and quickly retrieved the body from the well.
It was then taken to the local morgue, where an autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
While investigations are still underway, reports indicate that the primary suspect is Wanjiru’s baby daddy, who is currently on the run.
Authorities are working hard to track down the suspect and bring him to justice.
The police have also called on residents to come forward with any information that might lead to the suspect’s arrest.
They have urged anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in the days leading up to Wanjiru’s death to speak out and assist in the investigation.
