“Speak or forever keep your peace” Uhuru ally hits back at Gachagua over abductions claim

Date:

Jubilee Party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni has challenged former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to name those responsible for the country’s escalating abductions, as he previously threatened.

On Thursday, Kioni issued a statement on his official X page warning Gachagua not to use the abduction cases as theater, citing the risk to lives.

According to Uhuru Kenyatta’s ally, Gachagua’s decision to remain silent, even if he knows who is to blame, is reckless and a slap in the face of the grieving relatives.

He was responding to Gachagua’s statements made on Friday, December 27, in which the former DP threatened to divulge the identity of persons behind a secret unit reportedly involved in abductions in the country.

“Rigathi Gachagua must stop trivializing the grave issue of abductions in the country,” Kioni noted.

“His statements about revealing those involved without following through with actionable disclosures are both irresponsible and a slap in the face to the families suffering from these tragedies.”

The Jubilee Party leader has challenged the former DP to stop misleading the public with unfounded accusations if he cannot present real evidence.

He urged Gachagua against utilizing the abductions for political purposes.

“The nation deserves decisive leadership, not theatrics. Lives are at stake, and this matter demands the utmost seriousness. Playing politics with such a sensitive issue is unacceptable and a betrayal of public trust,” Kioni continued.

Following the growing number of abductions in the country, Gachagua promised to publish further information about the supposed clandestine unit that operates independently of the Inspector General of Police.

The former DP hinted that the team is directed by a man only identified as ‘Abel,’ a relative of a high-ranking government figure.

“There is a unit that is not under the command of the Inspector General of Police. It operates out of a building on the 21st floor in Nairobi’s city center, led by a certain ‘Mr. Abel,’ a cousin to a very senior official in this government,” Gachagua claimed.

“If this unit is not dismantled, we will reveal the name of the building and the full identities of the officer and his cousin,” the former DP threatened.

The former DP was speaking on abduction instances, with the most recent occurrence involving the disappearance of six young people who were abducted over the Christmas break.

the public is still unsure who is to blame for these abductions, President William Ruto has assured Kenyans that the Kenya Kwanza government will put an end to the abductions.
