In an exclusive exposé by Cyprian Is Nyakundi on X, a businessman has accused a senior adviser in the Office of the President of fraud involving a Sh5 million land lease deal in South B, Nairobi.
The businessman, Abdinoor Abdi, has filed complaints with both the police and the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), claiming that Karisa Nzai Munyika, the Political Affairs adviser at State House, took his money under false pretenses.

Abdi says he gave Munyika Sh4.7 million in February 2024 as payment for leasing a piece of land in South B, only to later realize that the deal was fraudulent.
Through his lawyer, Karen Rono, he has written to both the EACC and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) requesting an investigation and legal action. In the letter, Rono states that her client trusted Munyika due to his public position and standing in society, but later discovered he had been misled.
The complaint details how Munyika allegedly received the money through different payment platforms.

Abdi says he made the payments in good faith, believing that Munyika was acting in an honest and professional manner.
However, after repeated follow-ups and unfulfilled promises, it became clear that the land lease deal was fraudulent. The businessman then decided to take legal action to recover his money and hold Munyika accountable.
The lawyer’s letter outlines that the total amount transferred to Munyika stands at Sh5.7 million. Despite multiple demands for a refund, Munyika has allegedly failed to return the money or honor the lease agreement.

The letter argues that his actions amount to fraudulent misrepresentation and abuse of trust, which are offenses under the Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Act, 2003.A formal complaint has been registered under OB No. 60/17/2/2025, and investigations are underway.
Abdi has urged the EACC and DCI to act swiftly, citing concerns that individuals in public office are using their positions for personal enrichment at the expense of unsuspecting citizens.
The complaint emphasizes the need for thorough investigations to prevent similar fraudulent activities in the future.

Abdi has also expressed his willingness to cooperate fully with investigators and provide all necessary documents to support his claims. He believes that holding Munyika accountable will send a strong message against corruption and abuse of office.
Efforts to get a response from Munyika over the allegations were unsuccessful. However, officials from both the EACC and DCI have confirmed that they are looking into the matter.
The case has sparked public debate, with many questioning the integrity of individuals holding key government positions and whether they should be allowed to continue serving if found guilty of fraud.
