New Mwelekeo Insights survey puts Angel Mbuthia ahead in Kiambu women representative contest

Date:

Angel Mbuthia has emerged as the clear frontrunner in the Kiambu County Women Representative race after the latest survey by Mwelekeo Insights placed her comfortably ahead of her closest rivals in one of the county’s most closely watched political contests.

The final poll by Mwelekeo Insights shows the Jubilee candidate leading with 45.7 per cent, giving her a significant advantage as political preparations for the 2027 General Election continue to gather momentum.

Evangelist Mercy Nungari of DCP comes second with 24.8 per cent, while UDA candidate Hon. Ann Muratha follows closely with 22.7 per cent.

Independent candidate Rosemary Muthoni Kinuthia is fourth with 6.7 per cent.

The survey also found that there were no undecided voters, suggesting that the electorate has already formed firm opinions on the candidates seeking the Women Representative seat.

A race taking shape

The findings place Angel Mbuthia in a strong position as the contest begins to attract greater political attention across Kiambu County.

With nearly half of the support recorded in the survey, she enjoys a clear lead over the rest of the field.

While Mbuthia has established an early advantage, the battle for second place remains competitive, with both DCP and UDA attracting notable levels of support.

The results indicate that the race is largely concentrated among the three leading candidates, leaving little room for the remaining contestants.

For Jubilee, the poll offers encouraging signs in a county that continues to play a major role in the politics of the Mt Kenya region.

The survey suggests that the party still commands significant support in the Women Representative race despite growing competition from other political formations.

For DCP and UDA, the findings provide a clearer picture of where they stand and where additional campaign efforts may be needed.

As campaigns continue, the figures are likely to shape strategy, messaging and grassroots mobilisation across the county.

With no undecided voters recorded, the survey points to an electorate that is highly engaged and already settled on its preferred candidates.

That level of certainty makes the poll an important indicator of the current political mood in Kiambu.

The firm’s growing influence can also be seen in its surveys beyond Kiambu County.

In the Kamukunji Member of Parliament survey, Mwelekeo Insights placed Simon Mbugua ahead with 63.1 per cent, followed by Yusuf Hassan at 21.4 per cent and Hussein Mohamed at 15.1 per cent.

As political competition intensifies ahead of the next General Election, opinion polls are expected to play an even bigger role in helping candidates, political parties and voters understand changing public sentiment.

The Kiambu County Women Representative survey is another example of Mwelekeo Insights’ commitment to delivering timely, credible and data-driven research.

By providing clear polling results based on scientific methods, the firm continues to position itself as one of Kenya’s most trusted sources of public opinion research and electoral analysis.
