Natembeya team member abducted In broad daylight outside Milimani courts

Date:

A disturbing incident involving a key member of Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya’s administration has left the county shaken and raised serious concerns about political safety and rising intimidation.

The unidentified aide, believed to be a close associate of Governor Natembeya and a supporter of the DAP-Kenya party, was abducted in broad daylight shortly after midday on Tuesday outside the Milimani Law Courts. He had been accompanying other county officials and the governor himself for a scheduled court appearance related to a legal matter whose details remain undisclosed.

Eyewitnesses say that the aide, along with other officers from Trans Nzoia County, was forcefully taken by individuals believed to be posing as plain-clothed officers in what appears to be a highly coordinated and daring operation.

The abduction happened around 12:30 PM in full view of several bystanders and court staff, but the swiftness of the act left no time for intervention. Witnesses described the scene as chaotic, with the suspects grabbing the aide and quickly bundling him into a waiting vehicle before speeding away.

One court employee, who asked to remain anonymous, said, “It happened so fast. One minute they were all walking out, the next he was gone.”

The level of organization and brazenness has shocked many, with some expressing fear that such acts could become more common in politically charged environments.

Reports also indicate that other officers from Trans Nzoia County who had accompanied the governor were similarly harassed and targeted. The incident has been described by those close to the matter as not only an abduction but an outright attack on a county administration.

Governor Natembeya, visibly angered and disturbed, condemned the act and called it a direct assault on democracy. He strongly suggested the abduction was politically motivated, possibly aimed at intimidating his administration and silencing voices aligned with DAP-Kenya.

In a press statement released shortly after the incident.

“We will not be intimidated. This is an outrageous affront to justice and democracy. Those behind this will be unmasked.” he said.
