Kindiki threatens to spill Gachagua secrets as Mount Kenya politics erupt

Date:

Kenya’s political temperature has shot up after Deputy President Kithure Kindiki warned that he is ready to expose Rigathi Gachagua’s darkest secrets, a threat that immediately stirred anxiety across Mount Kenya.

The clash unfolded during a campaign rally in Mbeere North, where Kindiki accused the former Deputy President of insults, intimidation, and corruption, and told the crowd that he would no longer stay silent while Gachagua continued attacking him.

Kindiki reminded the gathering that Gachagua had publicly belittled him by calling him “an employee of President Ruto” instead of recognising him as the Deputy President. He made it clear that this disrespect was part of a bigger pattern of humiliation and hostility. Standing before residents of Kivue on November 23, he warned Gachagua to stop or face exposure.

The rally changed tone instantly as he declared that he collected enough information during his time as Interior Cabinet Secretary to completely shame Gachagua if pushed further.

The Deputy President explained that his former role gave him access to intelligence briefings, confidential security files, and networks capable of revealing political, financial, and personal dealings.

He accused Gachagua of ruling the Mount Kenya region through fear, intimidation, and threats, and told residents that this dominance was coming to an end.

He added that their leadership records could not be compared, noting that he had served as Senate Majority Leader while Gachagua was only a first-term MP with little influence.

Kindiki then revisited the 2022 campaign season, accusing Gachagua of forcing his way onto the UDA presidential ticket through the “No Rigathi No Ruto” protest strategy, which allegedly pressured President Ruto into picking him as running mate.

He insisted that this manipulation showed the lengths Gachagua was willing to go to secure power.

The Deputy President’s threat left the crowd questioning what exactly he plans to reveal.

Gachagua has long been linked to corruption-related controversies, including investigations into rapid wealth accumulation, irregular procurement dealings, and unexplained bank deposits.

Critics have questioned how his assets expanded so quickly despite his public salary. Kindiki’s remarks suggest he may expose documents, intelligence notes, or testimonies that shed more light on these issues.

The inheritance battle over the late Nyeri Governor Nderitu Gachagua’s estate also hangs heavily over the former Deputy President.

Family members have accused him of using his influence to control property sales and benefit more than other beneficiaries.

Properties such as Olive Garden Hotel, Vipingo Beach Resort, and Queens Gate Serviced Apartments were reportedly sold under questionable circumstances that raised concern among relatives.

If Kindiki has evidence of manipulation in these dealings, the political fallout would be severe.

This confrontation is more than a personal grudge. It represents a major power struggle inside UDA and the broader Mount Kenya region. Gachagua is fighting to retain his kingpin status, while Kindiki is rising as a national figure with strong backing from the presidency.

Their feud risks splitting the region at a critical moment, especially as President Ruto prepares for the 2027 race.

Kindiki’s warning has now introduced suspense and uncertainty into the by-election period.
