Kenya’s Ambassador to Thailand gives update on Nduta’s case, reveals the only 2 options to save her

Date:

The case of Nduta, a Kenyan citizen facing execution in Vietnam, has captured public attention as diplomatic efforts continue to secure her life. Speaking to a local newspaper, Ambassador Kiptiness revealed that Kenya has only two options to prevent the execution.

The first step taken by the government was to halt the execution while working on an appeal or seeking clemency. However, despite these efforts, no official response has been received yet from the Vietnamese authorities.

According to Ambassador Kiptiness, the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has acknowledged Kenya’s request and forwarded it to the relevant authorities. This development provides some hope that the matter is being considered.

He explained that the first option available to Kenya is to appeal to the President of Vietnam, who has the power to grant clemency. If successful, this could lead to Nduta’s sentence being reduced or overturned.

The second option is to take the case to the People’s Supreme Court, which has the authority to review the matter and possibly issue a different judgment.

Ambassador Kiptiness stated that the situation remains uncertain, and they are relying on the goodwill of the Vietnamese government to provide an opportunity for appeal.

He admitted that there is no guarantee of success, but efforts are being made to ensure that all legal and diplomatic channels are explored. He added that at the moment, they are hoping for a suspension of the execution to allow time to pursue the two available options.

The ambassador acknowledged the anxiety surrounding the case, noting that all they can do now is wait for a decision from the Vietnamese authorities.

Nduta’s case has sparked discussions in Kenya, with many people expressing concerns over her fate. Human rights organizations, politicians, and members of the public have urged the government to do everything possible to bring her home.

The growing pressure highlights the seriousness of the matter, and many are hoping that diplomatic efforts will bear fruit. The Kenyan government’s intervention is seen as crucial in determining whether Nduta’s life can be spared.

The situation remains tense as the country waits for an official response from Vietnam. Nduta’s family, friends, and supporters are anxiously following the developments, hoping for positive news.

The coming days will be crucial in determining the outcome, and all eyes are now on the diplomatic negotiations between Kenya and Vietnam.
