George Kaluma points finger at DIG Eliud Lagat over death of Influencer Albert Ojwang’

Date:

Homabay Town MP George Kaluma has strongly spoken out about the tragic death of X influencer Albert Ojwang’, laying the blame squarely on those responsible for his unlawful arrest and transfer.

He made it clear that whoever ordered the arrest and movement of Albert Ojwang’ from Homabay to Nairobi Central Police Station should be treated as the person who sanctioned his murder.

He emphasized that the chain of actions that led to Ojwang’s death was not random, and that it began with a direct order an order that should not be ignored in the ongoing investigations.

This brings Eliud Lagat, the officer allegedly behind the instruction, into sharp focus. Even if not named directly by Kaluma, sources and online discussion point toward Lagat.

If indeed Lagat was the one who ordered the arrest and unprocedural transfer, then he cannot run away from accountability. The pattern of abuse, misuse of power, and disregard for human rights is not new under his watch.

Kaluma is demanding justice, and that justice must start by zeroing in on the person who had the power to make such a decision. The arrest of Albert Ojwang’ was not done by the book.

There was no warrant. No transparency. No public explanation. It was a clear abuse of office and police authority, and the fact that Ojwang’ ended up dead after being moved to Nairobi raises even deeper concerns.

Kaluma rightly pointed out that this is not just about wrongful arrest. It’s about torture and murder. It’s about someone using their position to silence a voice, likely due to what Albert was saying online.

If Lagat is the one who gave that order, then he should be arrested immediately.

“The person who instructed that Albert Ojwang be arrest and unprocedurally moved to Nairobi is the same person who instructed his torture and killing.” Kaluma said.

This is a strong statement that should not be ignored. It paints a picture of state-sponsored violence being used to crush dissent, especially targeting online influencers and critics.

Eliud Lagat must answer hard questions. Why was Ojwang’ taken to Nairobi, skipping legal procedures? Who ordered the move, and who supervised the detention?

Why did Albert die under mysterious circumstances?

The silence from those in charge is loud and suspicious, and the police cannot investigate themselves fairly if the person at the top of the command is also the suspect.

Kaluma has demanded that the person responsible be arrested, charged, and jailed for murder. If Eliud Lagat was behind the illegal transfer and detention, then the justice system must act. This case is no longer about one man.

It is about setting an example that power cannot be used to kill. Kenya must choose between justice and impunity. There is no middle ground when lives are being taken under the watch of those meant to protect. Eliud Lagat, if found guilty, should not be protected. He should face the full force of the law.
