Fresh twist as truth emerges about Raila’s quiet medical trip

Date:

New information has surfaced about Raila Odinga’s recent trip abroad, sparking fresh interest among his supporters and political observers.

It has now been revealed by people close to the ODM leader that his journey to India was not political as many had assumed but rather medical.

Reports suggest that Raila had travelled to seek treatment for a health issue that needed urgent attention.

The details emerged after days of speculation following his noticeable absence from several key ODM events and public appearances.

Sources who spoke to The Standard on condition of anonymity said that Raila developed a blood clot in one of his legs, a condition that required quick medical intervention.

After consulting his doctors, he was advised to travel to India, where specialists could handle the case with the necessary expertise.

The team accompanying him reportedly ensured that the trip was kept private to avoid unnecessary attention as he underwent the procedure.

Once in India, doctors are said to have conducted a minor surgical operation to remove the clot. The surgery, according to the insiders, went smoothly and without complications.

Raila was later discharged from the hospital earlier on Wednesday after doctors confirmed that his recovery was progressing well. It is understood that he has been advised to take a short period of rest before resuming his normal duties.

Pauline Njoroge, the Jubilee Party’s organizing secretary, later shared that she had spoken to Raila personally. She described him as cheerful and in good health, assuring Kenyans that the ODM leader was in high spirits after the successful medical procedure.

Her remarks helped ease growing concerns that had begun to circulate online about the state of his health.

Over the past few days, speculation had intensified, with many questioning why Raila had missed several political functions, including party meetings and public rallies.

His communications team maintained that he was on a private trip abroad, but they did not share further details at the time. This silence led to a wave of rumors until the recent confirmations provided a clearer picture of his situation.

According to earlier updates from his secretariat, Raila left Kenya last Friday. Now that doctors have cleared him to travel, it is expected that he will soon return to the country.

However, the exact date of his arrival has not yet been disclosed. Despite the secrecy surrounding the trip, those close to him insist that he is recovering well and will be back to his usual political engagements once he completes his brief period of rest.
