Police have intensified operations against sexual exploitation and the production of obscene content in Kiserian and Ongata Rongai after uncovering two separate operations believed to have targeted young women through deception and exploitation.
The latest raids led to the rescue of dozens of women, the recovery of electronic equipment and the arrest of several suspects as investigations continue.
In Ongata Rongai, detectives acting on information provided by members of the public raided a house in the Rimpa area that is suspected to have been used for the commercial production of explicit content.
During the operation, officers found 30 women aged between 19 and 27 inside the house. Investigators believe the premises were being used to produce obscene material for commercial purposes.
A search of the house resulted in the recovery of seven laptops fitted with cameras together with other equipment believed to have been used in producing the content.
The women and other suspects found at the scene were taken to Ongata Rongai Police Station, where they remain as investigations continue.
Police said those found responsible will be presented in court once investigations are complete.
At the same time, detectives carried out another operation in neighbouring Kiserian after receiving intelligence that young women were being recruited with promises of domestic jobs.
According to investigators, the victims instead found themselves caught in a network of sexual exploitation and commercial prostitution.
The operation, which involved officers from Kiserian and Rongai police stations, led to the rescue of 18 women.
The victims have since been placed under police protection as authorities work to ensure their safety while investigations continue.
During the operation, detectives recovered mobile phones, laptops and other items believed to have been used in carrying out the illegal activities.
Police said the main suspect linked to the Kiserian operation is still on the run, but detectives are following several leads to trace and arrest the individual.
Authorities have also begun making arrangements to provide the rescued women with safe accommodation and support services.
The assistance will include psychosocial counselling, medical care and other programmes aimed at helping them recover and safely reintegrate into society.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations said it remains committed to dismantling criminal networks involved in sexual exploitation and the production of obscene material.
Detectives are continuing with investigations in both cases to determine the full scope of the operations, identify other people involved and ensure that everyone found responsible is brought before the courts.
