Senior Counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi, who is known for representing President William Ruto in several court cases, has openly criticized Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah for what he called disrespectful remarks against Pastor Dorcas Rigathi.
Pastor Dorcas is the wife of the former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. According to Ahmednasir, Ichung’wah crossed the line when he made a joke suggesting that Gachagua risked losing his wife to a bishop.
The comment was seen by many as mocking the character and marriage of Pastor Dorcas, and it has caused public anger. Ahmednasir said the statement was not only shameful but also completely unacceptable.
He added that Pastor Dorcas should be respected not just as a woman, but as a wife and a mother who has dedicated her life to helping others. He went further to demand that Ichung’wah should stop attacking her and give a public apology.
Many Kenyans have taken to social media to express their disappointment with Ichung’wah’s words. They feel that Pastor Dorcas, who is widely known for leading programs that support the rehabilitation of street boys and speaking up for young men, did not deserve such ridicule.
Her work in society has made her a respected figure beyond politics. For this reason, the remarks by Ichung’wah are being viewed as an attack not just on her family, but also on the positive role she plays in the community.
This controversy comes at a time when the political tension between Ichung’wah and Gachagua has been growing. Since Gachagua’s impeachment in October 2024, the two have been at loggerheads. Ichung’wah has repeatedly blamed Gachagua for causing divisions and even accused him of inciting violence during the June protests in Kikuyu.
On the other hand, Gachagua has claimed that Ichung’wah is working with President Ruto to isolate Mt. Kenya leaders from key positions in government. The rivalry has now spilled over into personal matters, and family members like Pastor Dorcas are getting caught in the political crossfire.
Ahmednasir’s response is one of the strongest so far and adds to the number of people urging politicians to keep family out of political fights. A growing number of Kenyans believe that such attacks show a lack of discipline among leaders and set a bad example for the public.
While Ichung’wah had previously apologized in May for offending Nyandarua residents with other remarks, he has not yet said anything about the comments directed at Pastor Dorcas.
Incidents like this one are reminders that words matter, especially when they affect people’s families and reputations. Kenyans are now calling for a return to respectful politics and for leaders to focus on issues, not personal attacks.
