Agnes Kagure turns Nairobi flood crisis into a strong message on accountability and leadership

Date:

Nairobi governorship aspirant Agnes Kagure has spoken clearly about the problems Nairobi faces whenever the rainy season begins, using her message to link flooding to poor leadership and weak planning.

Agnes Kagure said the floods are not just caused by nature but are a sign that those in charge have failed to prepare the city properly.

Her words reflect what many Nairobi residents experience each year when roads turn into rivers and daily life is disrupted.

She explained that people are tired of acting surprised when heavy rains come.

According to her, the flooding has become a routine event that exposes long-standing issues in drainage systems and city management.

Instead of seeing floods as accidents, she described them as a report card of leadership performance that keeps getting poor results.

Cars stall in water, businesses close early, and pedestrians struggle to move safely. These problems repeat every rainy season, yet little changes.

Agnes Kagure is known as a businesswoman, entrepreneur, and political leader of the Kenya Patriots Party.

She also runs a foundation that supports community projects. Her background in insurance and business shaped her skills in listening to people, solving problems, and leading teams.

She now presents herself as a serious candidate for Nairobi County Governor and often refers to herself as the incoming governor, showing confidence in her mission to bring change to the city.

In her recent message, she stressed that the main issue is not rainfall but poor infrastructure and lack of preparation.

Drainage systems are blocked or too small to handle water. Waste is not managed well, which makes flooding worse.

She criticized leaders who only make promises after disasters instead of preventing them. For her, leadership should mean planning ahead, fixing broken systems, and protecting people before harm happens.

She also pointed to her work in areas that face water shortages, such as Kibra and Kawangware. In these neighborhoods, her foundation has delivered water to families who struggle to access clean supply.

She said water should be a basic right and not something people depend on handouts for. While her foundation helps now, she believes long-term solutions can only come from proper county leadership and strong policies.

Her style of leadership focuses on being present in the community. She visits residents, listens to their concerns, and responds with action.

Many people see her as hands-on because she does not only talk online but also goes to the ground.

Through her social media posts, she shares both motivation and real issues like farming, patience, and service to others.

This helps her connect with citizens who feel ignored by current leaders.

Flooding in Nairobi affects health, safety, and the economy. Homes are damaged, children miss school, and dirty water spreads disease.

These impacts make people question why the same challenges return each year. Agnes Kagure’s message calls for accountability and a new direction.

She argues that good leadership would invest in drainage, manage waste properly, and plan for climate patterns instead of reacting too late.
