The wife of Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale, Gloria Sekeiyan Khalwale, has died after she suddenly collapsed following a suspected heart attack.
Khalwale confirmed the death of his wife in a statement on Saturday morning, saying that she had suddenly collapsed and died. He did not give further details about what may have caused the suspected heart attack or whether she had been suffering from any illness.
“My dear wife, Gloria Sekeiyan Khalwale, has this morning suddenly collapsed and died after a heart attack,” the Senator announced.
Gloria was the mother of eight children with Khalwale. Her sudden death has left the family and friends mourning as messages of condolence continued to reach the Senator.
The late Sekeiyan was also the mother of Engine Kukaste Khalwale, who recently graduated as a Certified Full-Stack Software Engineer from Moringa School.
Leaders and other public figures have since sent messages of sympathy to Khalwale and his family following the death.
Linda Mwananchi principal Edwin Sifuna was among those who condoled with the Senator. In his message, Sifuna expressed his sorrow and asked God to give the family strength during the difficult period.
“Omwami Khalwale, pole sana for your loss. May God comfort you and your family in this difficult time. Khulialala Omwami. May her soul rest in peace,” Sifuna said.
National Assembly Budget and Appropriations Committee Chair Samuel Atandi also sent his condolences to Khalwale, saying he was sorry for the loss and asking God to comfort the family.
“Very sorry, Senator. May God comfort you and your family during this difficult time,” Atandi said.
Former Principal Secretary Irungu Nyakera also joined other leaders in sending his condolences to Khalwale and his family.
The death of Gloria comes as a sudden loss to the Khalwale family, with details surrounding her suspected heart attack yet to be made public.
Family, friends and leaders are expected to continue supporting the Senator and his children as they mourn her death.
