Boniface Mwangi alleges the strongest evidence linking Eliud Lagat to the murder of Albert Ojwang

Date:

Activist Boniface Mwangi has accused top police and intelligence officials of orchestrating a cover-up in the murder of Albert Ojwang, a young protester allegedly tortured to death while in police custody.

Mwangi claims the key suspect, Deputy Inspector General Eliud Lagat, is linked to Ojwang’s killing through communication with Central Police Station OCS Talaam, who allegedly carried out the fatal torture on Lagat’s orders.

He further alleges that the National Intelligence Service (NIS), in collaboration with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), is manipulating the justice system to erase evidence.

According to Mwangi, the agencies pressured the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) to release OCS Talaam’s phone currently held as evidence under the guise that it was used in extortion, a strategy he says aims to allow the DCI to destroy critical links implicating Lagat.

“If that phone is discredited, Lagat walks free, and his juniors take the fall,” Mwangi warned, adding that Lagat’s political protection stems from his role in President William Ruto’s security network.

Mwangi also questioned the rise of former Nairobi police chief Adamson Bungei, now Director of Operations, claiming he oversaw brutal crackdowns on Gen Z protesters with full backing from Inspector General Douglas Kanja and senior police command.
