Justin Muturi has come forward to set the record straight after President Ruto claimed he was fired for failing to attend cabinet meetings.
The truth, as Muturi reveals, is far more serious his dismissal was a direct result of his unwavering stand against extrajudicial killings and abductions in the country.
In a detailed account of events, Muturi explains how he repeatedly tried to bring this critical issue to the cabinet’s attention, only to be ignored each time. It all began on January 12th this year when Muturi publicly condemned the rampant abductions and extrajudicial killings happening across the country.

In his statement, he called on the government to release those unlawfully detained and hold the perpetrators accountable. Instead of action, he was challenged by the DCI to record a statement, as if the matter was a mere formality rather than a national crisis.
When the first cabinet meeting was held on January 21st in Kakamega, Muturi reviewed the agenda and realized the issue of abductions was missing despite the President’s earlier promise in December 2024 to address the problem.

Believing it would be wrong to attend a meeting that ignored such a grave violation of human rights, Muturi wrote to the President through the Cabinet Secretary, explaining his absence and urging the government to take action.
According to Muturi, the letter was delivered, but the President never responded. The same pattern continued in February and March. Each time a cabinet meeting was called, Muturi checked the agenda, found no mention of abductions or killings, and wrote directly to the President, reminding him of the unresolved crisis.
Still, there was no reply. Cabinet dispatches after each meeting confirmed that the issue was never discussed, making the President’s recent claim that the matter had been resolved in cabinet completely false.
Muturi’s dismissal was clearly not about missed meetings but about his refusal to stay silent on a matter that strikes at the heart of justice and the rule of law. By speaking out, he exposed a government more interested in silencing critics than protecting its citizens.

His courage in standing firm, even at the cost of his position, reveals a troubling reality those in power would rather remove dissenters than address the bloodshed staining the nation.
