Bahati turns to police for protection after public criticism and security scare

Date:

Renowned gospel musician Bahati has once again found himself in the public eye after sharing CCTV footage from his home that raised questions about his safety.

The development comes shortly after he faced a storm of criticism over his decision to pledge three million shillings in support of Harambee Stars, Kenya’s national football team.

What was meant to be a generous gesture quickly turned into a source of scrutiny when Bahati admitted through a viral video that he was struggling to meet the financial promise he had made.

Many of his fans and members of the public questioned why he had pledged such a huge amount if he was not in a position to fulfill it, and the backlash only grew louder as people debated whether his decision was realistic.

The pressure that followed has clearly taken a toll on the singer, both financially and emotionally.

He has openly admitted that the criticism has been overwhelming, and his honesty about not being able to honor the pledge has fueled more conversation online.

While he has always been a public figure used to both praise and criticism, this particular incident seems to have placed him in an especially uncomfortable position. As if that were not enough, Bahati recently posted CCTV footage from his residence showing two men loitering suspiciously near his gate in the early hours of the morning.

According to the time stamp on the footage, the men were around his home between 4:27 am and 5:30 am. Their behavior was alarming enough to worry him, and he later shared the video with his followers on social media.

In a strongly worded statement on Facebook, he wrote that “gangstars visited my home” and warned them to stay away from his money or risk being shot. This message reflected the depth of his fear and the seriousness with which he views the situation.

Beyond posting on social media, Bahati also took formal steps by reaching out to the Inspector General of Police.

He requested more security not only for himself but also for his family and neighbors. In his appeal, he emphasized that their lives were in danger and urged the authorities to treat the matter with urgency.

For a man already struggling with public criticism and financial strain, this new concern about safety has added another heavy burden.

His actions show that he is determined to protect his household and community while continuing to navigate the challenges of public life and the expectations that come with being a well-known figure in Kenya.
