Developing Countries—Especially those in Africa are Grappling with Severe Funding Shortages (UNSC)

Date:

President William Ruto has been advocating for bold reforms within the UNSC recognizing the widening gap in developing countries especially those in Africa.

Speaking on Sunday during the Summit of the future plenary at the UN General Assembly, President William Ruto, highlighted the inadequacy of the current multilateral system. While certain nations hold permanent seats on the UNSC, Africa continues to seek equitable representation.

President Ruto views this as a historical injustice, emphasizing that UNSC reforms should rectify this imbalance and serve justice to Africa.

Additionally, he calls for a redesign of the international financial system, recognizing that developing countries—especially those in Africa and the global south—are grappling with severe funding shortages, and the gap is widening.
