IG Kanja reveals how Kenyans will be able to report cases without going to the station

Date:

According to a report by Kenyans.co.ke, Inspector General of Police Kanja has announced a new system that will allow Kenyans to report crimes and incidents directly from their phones.

This initiative, aimed at modernizing police services, will eliminate the need for citizens to physically visit police stations, making the process more convenient and efficient for everyone.

Speaking during a press briefing in Nairobi, IG Kanja revealed that the system would include a mobile application and a toll-free hotline.

These platforms will enable citizens to file complaints, report crimes, and share evidence such as photos, videos, and documents with law enforcement agencies.

As highlighted by Kenyans.co.ke, this innovation is expected to bridge the gap between law enforcement and the public, ensuring easier access to police services.

IG Kanja assured Kenyans that the system would prioritize user privacy and security. All reports will be handled confidentially and with urgency to foster public trust.

He noted that the initiative aims to reduce long queues and eliminate the need for people to travel long distances to access police services.

“This is a step forward in making police services more accessible while addressing the public’s concerns over efficiency and security,” Kanja stated.

The new system is also expected to improve police response times to emergencies through real-time reporting.

By digitizing the reporting process, the National Police Service (NPS) hopes to enhance accountability, as a digital trail of reports will help track progress and reduce negligence or corruption.

Kenyans.co.ke also highlighted that the initiative aligns with the government’s broader reforms under President William Ruto’s administration to digitize public services.

The NPS is working with technology partners to ensure the system is user-friendly and accessible to all Kenyans, including those in remote areas.

Training programs for police officers are also underway to equip them with the skills needed to manage digital reports effectively.

As the system undergoes final testing, IG Kanja expressed optimism about its potential to strengthen the relationship between law enforcement and the public.

By offering a safer, faster, and more efficient way to report crimes, the system promises to improve public safety and create a more connected society.

The launch of this initiative, as reported by Kenyans.co.ke, is expected in the coming months, marking a significant step toward modernizing Kenya’s police services.
