2 MPs under fire as Raila’s close ally admits Ruto will be a one-term president

Date:

On January 24, Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, a close ally of Raila Odinga, made a bold statement blaming Tiaty MP William Kamket and Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi for the decreasing popularity of President William Ruto among Kenyans.

Speaking to Nation Africa, Sifuna claimed that the two MPs were offering misleading advice to the President, contributing to his diminishing support.

Sifuna was clear in his criticism, stating that Kamket and Sudi, along with others close to Ruto, were leading him down a dangerous path.

According to Sifuna, these individuals surrounding Ruto were undermining his leadership by providing him with poor counsel.

He expressed concern that if Ruto’s presidency were to falter, Kamket, Sudi, and their allies would be responsible for it.

“He is surrounded by people who have decided that they have to tear him down.

They are going to take him down. If there is anybody to be blamed for the one-time presidency of Ruto, it will be Kamket, Oscar Sudi, and the likes who are surrounding him (and) giving him bad advice,” Sifuna stated.

This statement reflects the ongoing tension in Kenyan politics, particularly between the leaders who supported Ruto’s rise to the presidency and those who now criticize his administration.

Sifuna’s remarks are also a reminder of the fragile nature of political alliances and the influence that close advisers can have on the decisions of a sitting president.

As the country grapples with a range of challenges, including economic difficulties, many are watching closely to see how these internal divisions within Ruto’s circle will affect his leadership and popularity.

Despite these tensions, the possibility of a handshake between President Ruto and Raila Odinga has been raised as a potential way to heal the political rift.

However, reports indicate that the ODM party, led by Odinga, is sharply divided on the issue.

While some members of the party have expressed a willingness to work with Ruto for the greater good of the country, others are more skeptical, fearing that such a move could compromise their principles.

It remains to be seen whether a reconciliation between Ruto and Odinga will take place.

The fate of Ruto’s presidency may hinge on the advice he receives from those closest to him, and whether he can navigate the complexities of Kenyan politics in a way that restores public trust and support.
