Exposed: How Khalif Kairo used Kai & Karo limited to run multi-million fraud schemes

Date:

Joseph Kairu Wambui, also known as Khalif Kairo, faced criminal charges on 13th January 2025 at the Milimani Law Courts.

He was accused of cheating, a violation under Section 315 of the Penal Code.

The charges stemmed from allegations of defrauding two individuals massive amounts of money under false pretenses related to motor vehicle transactions.

The prosecution informed the court that between 29th July 2024 and 16th November 2024, at an undisclosed location in Kenya, Khalif Kairo deceived Dona Ayolo Okoth into transferring Ksh. 2,984,998 to an account under Kai & Karo Limited at KCB Bank.

He allegedly claimed the money was for purchasing a Subaru Outback vehicle, but it was later revealed that this promise was false, as he had no intention of fulfilling the deal.

In addition to this, Khalif Kairo faced a separate charge for another fraudulent act.

Between 10th July 2024 and 29th July 2024, within the Westlands area in Nairobi County, he reportedly used deceptive methods to con Jeff Kyule Munane.

Khalif is said to have induced Jeff to pay Ksh. 2,145,150 through his company for the importation of a Honda Vezel Hybrid from Japan.

However, just like in the first case, the accused did not deliver the promised vehicle.During the court session, Khalif Kairo pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Chief Magistrate Hon. Lucas Onyina presided over the hearing.

Despite his plea, the prosecution strongly opposed his release on bail, arguing that he was a potential flight risk.

The prosecution, led by Joyce Olajo, revealed to the court that Khalif had already purchased an air ticket on 10th January 2025.

This ticket was meant for a flight to New York, USA, scheduled for 12th January 2025, a day before his arrest.

This act raised serious concerns that the accused might evade justice if released on bail.

The details presented in court paint a troubling picture of alleged fraudulent activities involving substantial sums of money.

The prosecution’s concerns about Khalif’s potential to abscond further highlight the gravity of the accusations.

The case continues to attract attention as the court determines whether the accused will face justice or attempt to flee from the charges leveled against him.
