President William Ruto has accused certain politicians of financing youth to create disturbing images of him and other leaders in coffins.
Speaking during a public event in Kapsaret on Friday, January 10, Ruto warned the youth about being exploited by politicians for their own agenda, urging them to reject such manipulation.
The president expressed concern that these coffin images could lead the younger generation down a dangerous path of violence.
He cautioned that what begins as an online trend could escalate into real-life harm, warning that today it may be political leaders in coffins, but tomorrow it could extend to their own families and peers.
Ruto urged the youth to use their creativity for more constructive purposes, such as creating job opportunities and generating income through social media.
He emphasised that good character and ethical online behaviour are essential for long-term success and prosperity.
The president also called on both leaders and parents to speak out against the harmful trend, advising that promoting positive actions on the internet would yield better outcomes for everyone.
Despite the growing criticism over social media, Ruto made it clear that he would not be swayed from his development agenda, promising to remain focused on his mission regardless of the distractions.
