“Injury To One Comrade Is An Injury To All” Babu Owino Tells University Student Leaders Over Abductions

Date:

Babu Owino, Member of Parliament (MP) for Embakasi East, has urged university student leaders to organize statewide rallies in response to alleged abductions.

The claimed abductions have dominated public discourse for days, with figures such as President William Ruto and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga all weighing in on the matter.

Babu now wants students to take an active part by organizing national protests.

“All University student leaders must call for nationwide protests to demand the release of all abducted comrades. “Student leaders wacheni kutuangusha. An injury to one comrade is an injury to all comrades,” Babu’s post on his X account read on Saturday, December 28, 2024.

Babu’s call comes after Keiyo South MP Gideon Kimaiyo expressed his views on the same issue.

“No one has the right to abduct anyone. I urge the police to act swiftly and bring those responsible to justice. If anyone commits crimes related to computer misuse and cybercrime, they should be arrested and taken to court.“ Abductions must not be allowed to thrive in a country that values the rule of law,” Kimaiyo said in a post on X on Saturday, December December, 28, 2024.

“The police must act swiftly to identify the perpetrators, dismantle their networks, and ensure the safe release of those captured. Justice and accountability are non-negotiable.”

Cate Waruguru, a former Laikipia County Women Representative, expressed her grief at the reported abduction incidents.

“Like millions of you across the country, I am outraged and heartbroken over the increasing cases of abductions and arbitrary arrests in various parts of the country.

“This unconscionable act is being committed in the full glare of our security services -who have since distanced themselves from these acts,” she said.

“But are we to believe that our security services are unaware of these abductions? That these abductions aren’t state-sanctioned?”
