The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) is mourning the death of Silas Cheboi, its Assistant Director for Surveillance and Enforcement.
EPRA announced his death on August 13, describing it as a major loss to the authority, his colleagues and those who knew him.
In a statement, the regulator said it was deeply saddened by the passing of Cheboi.
“We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Mr Silas Cheboi, Assistant Director, Surveillance & Enforcement at the Energy & Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA),” the authority stated.
EPRA added that his death was a profound loss to the organisation and to the people who had the opportunity to work with him.
Cheboi was remembered by his colleagues as a dedicated and professional officer who carried out his duties with a strong sense of integrity. His colleagues said he remained committed to his work and to the responsibilities given to him throughout his time at the authority.
EPRA said his commitment to its mandate was clear in the way he handled his duties. His role in the Surveillance and Enforcement department involved work that was important to the authority’s responsibilities in regulating the energy and petroleum sector.
His death has also left a gap among family members, friends and colleagues who worked with him.
As those close to him come to terms with his passing, EPRA has sent its condolences to his family and everyone affected by the loss.The authority said arrangements for his burial had already been completed.
His body will be taken to his Solian home in Eldama Ravine, Baringo County, where he will be laid to rest.
The burial is scheduled for August 15, 2026. Family members, colleagues, friends and other mourners are expected to gather at his home to pay their final respects and remember his life.
In announcing his death, EPRA acknowledged the impact Cheboi had during his service at the authority and the loss now being felt by those who knew him.
“His passing is a profound loss to the Authority, his colleagues, and all those who had the privilege of working with him,” EPRA said.
The burial on August 15 will mark the final farewell to Cheboi as his family, colleagues and friends come together to honour his memory and offer support to one another during a difficult time.
