Mosiria launches fundraiser for DJ Evolve as fresh questions rise around Babu Owino’s support

Date:

Geoffrey Mosiria has stepped forward with plans to support DJ Evolve through an online fundraising campaign, bringing fresh attention to a case that has remained in public discussion for years.

DJ Evolve, whose real name is Felix Orinda, was left in a wheelchair after he was shot during an incident involving Embakasi East MP Babu Owino at a club in Kilimani in 2020.

Since then, his life has changed completely, with daily struggles involving movement, medical care, and financial stability.

Mosiria says his goal is to create long-term solutions instead of temporary help.

He wants to help establish an online DJ entertainment platform and a DJ academy where DJ Evolve can train young people interested in music and entertainment.

The plan is meant to give him a steady source of income while also allowing him to continue doing what he loves.

In addition to that, Mosiria hopes to raise money for medical bills, food, equipment, and other needs that can improve his daily life.

The move has also revived public discussion about the long-standing rivalry between Mosiria and Babu Owino.

Their differences did not begin with this issue. The two have known each other since their days at the University of Nairobi, where they competed in student leadership elections.

Over the years, that rivalry has continued into public life, with both men often clashing over political and county matters.

Mosiria now serves as Nairobi’s Chief Officer for Environment, while Babu Owino remains a strong political figure in Embakasi East and is widely seen as someone interested in bigger leadership positions, including the Nairobi governor’s seat in the future.

Because of this, some people see Mosiria’s fundraising campaign as more than just an act of support, with critics suggesting politics may also be involved.

Recently, content creator Javan Karanja shared details of the fundraising effort on Facebook, helping the issue gain more attention online.

Mosiria’s message focused on giving DJ Evolve independence rather than short-term assistance. He argued that helping him build a business and a teaching platform would offer dignity and sustainability instead of dependence.

This comes shortly after Babu Owino publicly stated that he has spent more than 70 million shillings on DJ Evolve’s care over the years.

According to him, this support has included hospital bills, treatment, family support, and other personal expenses.

He has also said that he apologized to DJ Evolve and his family, and that they reached a place of reconciliation after the painful events of 2020.

Public opinion remains divided. Some people believe Babu has done enough and should be recognized for continuing to support someone affected by his actions.

They point to the money spent and the years of involvement as proof of accountability. Others are less convinced, questioning whether the support matches the public statements, especially when they see DJ Evolve still struggling with serious physical and financial challenges.

The shooting case has remained sensitive because it touches on justice, responsibility, and forgiveness. Babu Owino was charged after the incident but was later acquitted in court.

In several interviews, he has admitted that the event was serious and has said it was one of the biggest mistakes of his life.

He has also spoken openly about how it changed him personally and politically.

Beyond this case, Mosiria and Babu have also argued publicly over Nairobi county matters such as hawkers, city management, and claims of extortion.

Their university history is often brought back into conversations, with stories about student politics, leadership battles, and old accusations still shaping how people view their current relationship.

For many Kenyans watching, however, the main concern remains DJ Evolve himself.

He is the one living with the lasting effects of that night. His condition has become a symbol of how one moment can change an entire life.

Many believe the focus should stay on ensuring he has proper mobility support, regular treatment, financial security, and a real chance to rebuild his future.
